The fourth edition of Connected Smart Cities will count with the partnership between Frente Nacional de Prefeitos (National Front of Mayors) and Rede Brasileira de Cidades Inteligentes e Humanas (Brazilian Network of Intelligent and Humans Cities) to hold regional meetings starting in October 2017.

The National Front of Mayors (FNP) is a movement organized by mayors of several municipalities and the main purpose is to defend the interests based on the particularities of each region. As a consequence, the Brazilian Network of Intelligent and Human Cities emerged in 2013, within the scope of FNP, to stimulate the growth of cities that have an open and transparent management system.

Currently, the Brazilian Network of Human and Intelligent Cities counts with the participation of the 350 largest Brazilian cities and brings together secretaries and municipal leaders focused on the area of science, technology and innovation, as well as municipal secretaries for economic development.

According to the President of the Network, André Gomyde, the importance of a Smart Cities event in Brazil is that “the theme Intelligent, Human, Creative and Sustainable Cities is the order of the day in the Country, because it’s the way to get out of a bad financial situation and highly dependent on the centralized power of the Union. (…) The importance of CSC is that it is much more than an event, it is a concept that presents to Mayors the indicators of Intelligent, Human, Creative and Sustainable Cities. This helps a lot public managers to know the right way forward”.

In addition, the President pointed out that the impact of the participation of FNP and the Brazilian Network of Intelligent and Human Cities for a smart cities event is due to the fact that “both institutions are the great hub of many mayors across the coutry. It is there that they meet and draw their strategies and share information and solutions. The participation ot the two institutions facilitates the contact with the Mayors and gives credibility to the CSC. We are very happy with this partnership!”.
